Pastor is the last title that Jared ever would have imagined for himself. Growing up, he chased excitement and adventure. He dreamt of action looking toward military, law enforcement, etc. But every attempt to break into those worlds was met with failure. Still, Jared got as close as he could. He spent over a decade working various types of security and even spent a short time as a correctional officer. Through this he came to realize that he possesed a deep abiding love for people. But Jared spent his life running from a relationship with God. Finally the day came when Jared decided that he wanted to be the best man that he could be. Looking at the examples in his life, Jared decided that the best men he knew were Christian men. So he finally and fully gave his life to Jesus. Only then did he realize that his fear of having to sacrifice his desires for God were misplaced. In fact his desires changed so that serving the Lord became the highest priority and most rewarding priviledge imagineable. It was then that Jared realized why he had been drawn to the fields of security and law enforcement. His life was meant to help and protect people, and what position does that more than the office of Pastor? Not because people respect pastors, but because people come to them in their desperation. Pastors are the shepherds of people and are therefore called to care for them. He was always aware of his purpose, just not the scope.
